Srinagar, Mar 12 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday said that no household in Zadibal Constituency of Srinagar is without safe drinking water. Replying to the question of MLA Tanvir Sadiq, Minister for Jal Shakti as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that none of the households in Zadibal constituency is without safe drinking water. “It is to mention here that there are 9061 (approx.) registered water connections in Zadibal Constituency as per the records. The said area receives water supply from rangil, alusteng and Nishat Water Treatment Plants. Meanwhile in the financial year 2024-25, many improvisation works by way of laying and fitting of different dia pipes were executed for improvement of water supply,” he said. “The areas mentioned fall within the scope of 4MGD Water treatment Plant Pokhribal, the raw water of which is lifted from Nigeen Lake. The raw water at Plant under goes series of treatment processes which include aeration, coagulation, flocculation, filtration, pre & post chlorination besides a special treatment namely activated carbon chambers are there to take care of odour & color. The plant is equipped with state of the art laboratory, conducting rigorous testing of water samples collected on daily basis at consumer points & at the plant for various parameters & all the parameters are within the permissible limits set by the regulatory authorities. The water supply from the plant is absolutely safe for human consumption,” the Minister said. Replying to another question of MLA Tral Rafi Ahmad Naik, Minister for R&B said that DPR for construction of mechanical engineering department in Tral has been prepared and work shall be considered subjected to availability of funds. “DPR for construction of building for Mechanical Engineering Department on College Road, Tral has been prepared and technically vetted for an amount of Rs 273.38 lakh. The work shall be considered for execution subject to the availability of funds,” he said—(KNO)
